Just say NO to Cigarettes!
Did you know three cigarettes could get one addicted? Every time one takes a puff of a cigarette they’re playing a dangerous game with life. I always wondered, Why are cigarettes so deadly, what is in cigarettes, if people know they’re deadly then why do they still smoke them, and finally why does the government allow people to buy these when they can kill you? Every time one smokes a cigarette it’s like putting a gun to your head and pulling the trigger with out knowing if the gun is loaded or not. I’ll do what’s within my ability to answer these questions in this essay. I browsed the internet (isn’t it a wonderful tool?) and used other references and my knowledge to determine why cigarettes are addictive, unhealthy, and unappealing. If we could vote to make cigarettes illegal then I’d vote yes. If your vote is no then after you read this essay I hope you will vote yes and save millions of adult and CHILDREN lives.
Cigarettes are very unappealing. Do you like the smell of an old used ashtray? I don’t and most other people don’t either. Well how would you like for smoking area to smell like that and wouldn’t be able to do anything about it. You know how some smokers’ teeth are yellow. This is one result of the tar staining their teeth. All white items in your smoking area could turn yellow as a result in the tar you exhale along with many other chemicals. Premature wrinkles are another result in smoking.
Cigarettes are very unhealthy. If you knew what is in cigarettes you would think twice about even touching them. The basic substances are nicotine, tobacco, and TAR. Yes TAR that black smelly stuff that you have on your roof, in the streets, and if you smoke in your lungs. These are some other substances used to make cigarettes: Uranium, water, Carbon Dioxide. These chemicals are also used to make nuclear bombs. I guess smokers enjoy smoking nuclear bombs. Some side effects of smoking are many forms of cancer, thickening of the blood, making the arteries thinner and smaller, cancer of the vocal cords You’ll have to talk out of a microphone in you’re neck, and could cause constant Bronchitis.
Addiction is probably the worst part. Before I explain what addiction is like I’m going to tell you about the process of addiction. 1. You light the cigarette. 2. You smoke two or three. 3. That dizziness is the nicotine traveling throughout your body. 4. The nicotine takes effect and you want another and another and so on. 5. You’re addicted. Now for what it’s like. Every time you get angry or sad you want a cigarette. If you’ve had a stressful day you may want one after a day’s work to calm your nerves. If you have no way of getting them you’ll steal them or get other people to steal them for you. You may also get others to buy cigarettes for you, or buy them from other people and get ripped off.
For those of you who voted no earlier and changed to yes, good for you. For those of you who

Cause and Effect
Divorce
From the past to present, people all over the world have determined to live together, which is called “get marriage” in another word, so that they depend on for living each other. Nevertheless, some couples are unable to maintain their relationship; therefore they choose divorce, which is one of the solutions to cope with problems between husband and wife. Furthermore, most people think carefully before they get marriage. However, the divorce rates trend to continually increase nowadays, thus it might be argued that divorces can be taken place easier than the past. There are three main causes of divorce: changing woman’s roles, stress in modern living and lack of communication, which are highlighted below.
The first significant cause of recent rise in the rates of divorce is that women completely change in roles. In the past, men have to earn whole money to afford the expense of family, whereas woman only do housework, hence women have no money leading to depend on husbands’ money. Because of these situations, it is too difficult for most women to separate from their husbands. Nonetheless, these situations entirely change nowadays. The equality between men and women in roles are very clear at the moment, thus women can work outside to earn money, while men share the household tasks such as cooking, cleaning, washing as well as caring for children. It can be clearly seen that women are independent from money as they can earn money by themselves to support their living cost. Accordingly, the divorce rates recently rise.
Another cause to confirm the recent increase in divorce rates is stress in modern living. Many people, who live in globalisation, have considerable pressures to earn money. It can be obviously seen that the stress has occurred since they are children. For instance, in Thailand, students generally want to go to famous school so that they take advantage to go to well-known universities. Studying in celebrated universities mostly causes having a good opportunity to find a job or earn a lot of money. This circumstance not only happens in Thailand, but also occurs in many countries. Some people are laid off from their companies; consequently the stress occurs in their family, which leads to divorce. Some families can earn money, but inadequate for covering their expenses, therefore it is easy to think about divorce. Nevertheless, the rates of unemployment trend to continually increase as a result the divorce rates can also rise. It is no doubt that the stress in modern living may lead to recently increasing divorce rates.
The final cause of recently increasing divorce is lack of communication. Owing to financial status in each family, many people are fairly busy. For this reason, they have inadequate time to talk to the problems with their partners, which produces the likelihood of divorce. Some couples are often quiet when they have problems each other, as a consequence little problems can be expanded to probably become huge problems, resulting in divorce. It is quite clear that the more communications are used, the more divorce rates are reduced.
Although, these three cause of the recent rise in divorce rates are expressed above, there are also two effects of the recent increase of divorce rates: negative effects and positive effects
Firstly, the effects of recent enlargement in divorce rates are negative effects. Most couples normally have children when they get marriage. Accordingly, divorces can directly effect on children. Children living in single parent families are more probably to get pregnant as teenagers, drop out of high school, abuse drugs and have aggressively emotional and behavioural problems, which lead to social problems. Some children decide to go out of their home when their parents separate each other, and subsequently they become homeless children. They do not have good opportunities to find a job due to shortage of education. Consequently, crime may likely be the end result. These are significantly negative effects of recent expansion in divorce rates.
Secondly, on the other hand, another effects of rise in divorce rates are positive effects. People, who divorce by consent from their partners, want to have better quality of life, since they are unhappy with their spouses. Accordingly, they can work efficiently, which results from fine mental condition. They not only have more free time to do many things, but also free from their spouses’ murmurs. In addition, divorces also get rid of the violence of quarrel between husband and wife, hence everybody in family get better in physical and mental healthy, particularly for children. These are the advantageous effects of increasing divorce rates.
In conclusion, a family is one of the important parts of society, thus many people had better aware of the significance of relationship in family. At the moment, divorce have become the substantial problem because of changing women’s roles, stress in modern living and lack of communication. Nevertheless, there are also the two different ways in effects, which are negative and positive effects. Some couples, which have no children, divorce by consent, therefore divorce should be good solution for couples to deal with this problem. On the other hand, some couples having children in their family should think deliberatively before they end their marriage in divorce; otherwise innocent children probably become victims for this situation. My first experience!
The Big Experience On the Golf Course
Golf is a big experience for me in the first place. Three reasons why this certain
tournament was such an experience was because I was the leader of our team. It was for
pride against the other players we were playing, and it just was not for the pride it was
also for the money and that played a big role in it also. Golf has brought me a long way
like going to college and the way I look at certain things now.
Being the captain of our team was a big privilege but it also made me very
nervous. I knew that I had to do my part and carry our team because they were counting
on me more than anybody else. This was the first time I was ever the leader of the group
or the captain as most people call it. Before we started I had a lot of bad thoughts rushing
through my head like what if you don’t play good or your team mates get mad because
you don’t hit a good shot or that I am not as good as they think I am. This was really a
lot of pressure to me, believe it or not. We stepped on the first tee and all my teammates
teed off and it was my turn. I teed my ball up took a deep breathe, stepped up to the ball
and hit it straight down the middle. My teammates told me “great shot Dell.” That really
relaxed me and I played so good. I was on my game all day long and nothing was going
to get my way, not even a tree. I just felt like I could not do anything wrong that day. I
kind of felt like I was a machine because everything was just so nice and smooth like a
routine would be. Anybody that plays golf on a regular basis knows what I am talking
about whenever I say “my swing just felt so good and smooth.” My teammates were
really impressed with my skills. After we were through they were bragging to all the other
teams about how good I was and how far I could hit a golf ball. That made me feel good
and that I did everything that I could to help out my team. They were really a great team
and I enjoyed spending the day with them. We had some great conversations that day,
laughed and just had a good time. I told myself to just have fun and that is what we
did.
This tournament was called Members Day and that is where most of the members
play in this tournament. Most people knew each other so this tournament was mostly for
pride. My dad and I both played in this tournament but we were not on the same team.
I was really hoping that my team would beat his and I am sure that he was hoping that
his team would beat mine. Well it ended up that my team and I beat my dads team so that
gave me some bragging rights. Whenever I beat my dad at something that I do I feel
proud and my dad is also very proud of the things I do and the skills I have. There were
sixteen teams and my team came in fourth place so we were very happy with that. I did
not think we would do that good but we played as a team and you can do anything if you
work together. Brent also played and of course my team beat his because my team was
just better and he can not hang with me. He never says anything about this tournament
because he knows that his team lost pretty bad. We only finished two strokes behind the
winners. This was a really great feeling beating people that I know and also beating those
old men out there that think they are so good but we put them in their place and their
place was behind us. My mother and my girlfriend were also out there watching me play.
That also made me proud because I knew they had faith in me and they were also very
proud of me so that made my day that much better.
Money is a very important thing to most people, including me. I was so happy that
we finished in fourth place because we won about thirty dollars a piece. I know thirty
dollars is not that much money but it is thirty more dollars than what I did have. Money is
a very big thing to me and since I knew that we were playing for money I just played that
much harder. It felt really good walking up there receiving our money after they called my
name because I was the captain. Whenever somebody starts talking about the word
money around me I listen because I am always up for a good challenge. Whenever
money is involved the situation changes because things are taken a whole lot more serious
because if you don’t play good you are going to lose something that you worked very
hard for and nobody likes doing that. Money is not everything to me but it plays a big role
in my life because if I did not have any of it I would not have anything. The money is not
as important as the pride is to me but I sure don’t mind having it. If money was not really
important to people then nobody would work for the things that they do like

Ch. 16 Definition
A definition essay is writing that explains what a term means. Some terms have definite, concrete meanings, such as glass, book, or tree. Terms such as honesty, honor, or love are abstract and depend more on a person's point of view. In definition essay we should tell readers what term is being defined, present clear and basic information, use facts, examples, or anecdotes that readers will understand. We need to understand the term before you can define it for others. We should explain the term briefly in your own words. Also, it's important to limit term before we start defining it. For example, we could write forever on the term "love." To limit it, we would write about either "romantic love," "platonic love," or "first love." The thesis statement usually identifies the term being defined and provides a brief, basic definition.
Ch. 15 Process Writing
Process writing is practical writing that answers the kinds of questions we face every day at home, in college, or on the job. Writing answers these types of question analyzes the process in which we’re interested, breaks it down into steps, and shows how the process works. The three basic forms of process writing include describing a process, explaining a process, and giving instructions. We choose one of these forms to carry out the process as breaking the process into specific steps and write about it. To write one of these forms, we must study the process until we understand to show how each steps leads logically to the next, and how all the steps together complete the process. We should decide what our writing should do and choose the form that fits our purpose and audience. Regardless of the form that we choose, we should make our writing accessible to all of the readers by addressing the reader who knows at least about the topic. If I talk about the guidelines about process writing first of all I should select a topic, then review the process to find issues that I need to research, then organize the information by adding reordering steps as needed after my research, then draft the documents by describing, explaining a process and writing instructions, then for all these we should revise the writing, then read the writing for organization and completeness by testing the writing, get feedback from classmates for clarity of writing, finally edit and publish the essay.
Ch.14 Classification
In a classification essay, a writer organizes, or sorts, things into categories. We use clarification criteria to distinguish one subgroup from another. For example, classifying local apartments by size, price or age so we should choose criteria that fit our purpose. Then we are supposed to test our criterion. Writer uses the diagrams to organize the information that he gathered as an aid for developing classification essay. Then draft your thesis; the thesis statement includes the topic and how it is classified. Classification essay contain an opening, middle, and a closing paragraph. Opening should have a thesis statement. Writer compares and contrasts various aspects of the items or topics being classified in middle paragraph. The closing is used to restate the thesis and summarize the facts and information presented with the classification essay. Then we get feedback from our classmates or someone as wants from them to read. We revise the essay just in case we need to edit essay to make some changes. Finally we share our writing with people.

Chapter 13 Comparison and Contrast
In this chapter, we will learn to use comparison and contrast example in the essay. When we use this kind of examples in the essay it will be understandable. They help readers understand the topics. If we want to use comparison and contrast in the essay we have to follow those three things: think about readers, know your purpose and be logical.
